Renting vs. Buying: Which is Right for You in Croatia

Renting

Buying

Furthermore, owning a home allows greater freedom of decorating and renovations as long as there are no restrictions from local authorities or homeowners associations. Another plus is that real estate appreciates over time; meaning that if you decide to sell your home later on down the road, it should give you back more than what was initially invested—provided the market price has not dropped significantly during the period of ownership.   On the downside, however, buying real estate often involves higher upfront costs such as closing fees and loan origination fees (if applicable). Additionally, there are ongoing costs like taxes and regular maintenance which must be taken into account before making this big commitment.
